Bird Rhymes

There Was an Old Crow

There was an old crow
Sat upon a clod*;
There’s an end of my song,
That’s odd!

Notes:
*A clod is a lump of earth.

Three Grey Geese

Three grey geese
In a green field grazing,
Grey were the geese
And green was the grazing.

Two Dicky Birds

Two dicky birds flew far away
Over the oceans blue and gray

One dicky bird flew home to rest
The other one followed with a guest

So the two dicky birds and the guest
Had a roaring time in the nest

Soon, it was time to say good bye
They shook hands with a solemn sigh.

A Lovely Dream

Last night I had a lovely dream,
A dream I dreamed all night long.

I was a bird, a yellow bird,
A canary, singing all day long.

Flying over the hills and dales,
My wings were flapping swift and strong.

I left my nest at sharp day-break,
When Cock, my pal, did his sing-song.
